Mongolia (Oct. 2007)
Mongolia is 'the land of the blue sky'' or one of the last unspoiled travel destinations in Asia, called up images of camels walking in the Gobi Desert or horses galloping in the steppe. It is one of the world's highest countries, with an average elevation of 1,580 meters (5,180 feet) and temperature extremes. The legacy of Genghis Khan, the Mongol horseman and warrior who united warring tribes and established the Mongol empire in the 13th century conquering much of Asia and Europe, has been invoked in an attempt to foster national pride. Don't miss life and temples in a capital Ulaanbataar, horse riding and hiking in Terejl NP and Tsetserleg and camel riding in Gobi desert.
