Laos traces its history to the Kingdom of Lan Xang or Land of a Million Elephants, which existed from the fourteenth to the eighteenth century. It is a land of slow motion that loves to remain within an exquisite isolated world and wait for its turn to attain development at its own ease. Laos remains one of the poorest of all nations in the world and portrays the exquisite sight of traditional Southeast Asian life. The most appealing city in Laos is the Luang Prabang, which is dotted with beautifully carved temples. It is nice to travel by boat on Mekong and don't miss extraordinary tourquise Kouang Si waterfall near Luang Prabang, rock climbing in the jungle in Vang Vieng and capital city Vientiane.
